PA C K : £ Marq is the new lighting range from inMusic, the company behind Numark, Denon DJ and a number of other well-known DJ, PA and music production brands. Having launched in the US last year, Marq has just recently touched down in the UK with a variety of lighting and effects fixtures, the most interesting of which is arguably the RezoTube Pack. 7744 RezoTubes are long thin clear plastic tubes which are each fitted with 64 evenly-spaced RGB LEDs, arranged in pairs with one facing forwards and the other facing backwards.

The RezoTube Pack combines five of these tubes in a convenient carrycase with a Rezo Control box to power them, five cables to link the tubes to the control box, and a choice of two different sets of floor-standing mounts. Together the five tubes create an impressive display of animated coloured patterns that are ideal for adding visual excitement to a mobile DJ rig. The tubes themselves are 1 metre in length and have a compact 30mm diameter. Although constructed from clear plastic, this has small internal ribbing, which gives the tubes an opaque look.

This ribbed design also means that each LED creates a ring of light that wraps all the way around the tube, as the LED’s glow reflects from the slides of the internal plastic ridges. At the end of each tube is approximately 30cm of trailing cable, which terminates in a proprietary 4-pin connector. This can either connect directly to the Rezo Control box or be extended using one of the five extension cables provided as part of the pack, which each have a length of approximately 1 metre.

The connectors used to link up the tubes push together, but also have a metal screw cover which locks them securely in place to ensure that connections can’t accidentally be pulled out. While long enough for most purposes, the length of the linking cables does limit the distance that the tubes can be positioned away from their control box and, therefore, how far apart the tubes can be positioned from each other. At the time of writing I was informed that there are plans for longer linking cables to be made available as an optional extra, although at the moment details of the length(s) and cost(s) aren’t available.

The Rezo Control box comes programmed with 29 varied patterns and also offers a ‘Mix’ option which cycles through all of the programs in turn. Each of these patterns can be selected with ease directly from the control box and set to run at a (variable) static speed or sound-to-light triggered by an internal microphone. These patterns offer a wide variety of pulsing, chasing and flashing effects that make full use of the RezoTubes’ RGB LEDs and create really impressive ‘eye candy’.

For some of the programmes, all of the tubes do the same thing, while for others the patterns run over all five tubes creating some truly mesmerising animated effects. If I were pushed to find a negative, it would have to be the length of the connecting cables, however there are plenty of ways to setup the system using those provided and longer options will soon also be available. Overall, the Rezo- Tube Pack is both effective and welldesigned which definitely bodes well for the future of Marq Lighting!
