FUNKTION ONE F101 + SB210A : PRICE ON APPLICATION Funktion One has, for many years, produced what are deemed by many to be some of the very best sound systems available for touring, night clubs, stadia, and discerning DJs. This is an independent British company, based in Surrey, and headed by Tony Andrews and his team of very talented engineers. Their philosophy is quite simply to pursue absolute audio quality in everything they do, through innovative and efficient designs born out of their creative vision and technical knowledge..

I had the chance to see and hear the familiar F101 speakers, but this time connected to a new bass enclosure which Funktion One had been busy developing for quite a while – the SB210A. Ever since I first heard a Funktion One system, I have really wanted to own one to use for my mobile gigs, but the idea of lugging around a pair of Res 2 and a pair of F218s along with the associated amplifier racks, not to mention the cost and need for a much bigger van and mains supply, has left me waiting for something more compact.

What Funktion One had in mind when designing this new system is a simple and portable active system which could be used for events and parties of up to about 100 people, as well as for studio monitors. As most of my work is in the wedding sector, I DJ many events for about 40 – 100 guests. So, as you can imagine, I was very excited to see what it's like in action. Would it fit in well with high class events and weddings, and is it compact enough to be discreet, something many venues, as well as brides and grooms, like?
