Whether it's new music or retro classics, it's always a good idea to keep adding to your music library in order to be able to play a wider range of songs. The skill of being able to offer your clients a unique music experience isn't to be under-estimated. I've watched with great interest how leading wedding DJs have developed their businesses over recent years.
Many now offer allday services and take things to a whole new level, which often includes offering music solutions for the various parts that make up the big day. As a professional DJ, I've performed at almost every event going. Over the past few years, I've had the pleasure of being the DJ and Host at a number of high-profile weddings where the clients have requested my services throughout the whole of their special day. From the moment their guests arrive, to the moment the last one leaves, I'm asked to create the desired music playlists to complement each section.
Clients are becoming more involved with the music than ever before, and that can often lead to some interesting and varied suggestions of what to play. However, there are also many clients who ask me to offer them music suggestions, and that's where that extra knowledge really comes into play. As an option for your clients, you may want to offer them an acoustic music set that works perfectly for guest arrival, drinks reception, register signing, food service and other parts of a wedding day.
There's something really elegant about a strippedback version of a classic track, and with some careful programming, you can create a stylish playlist befitting of the occasion. Acoustic tracks work for other events too and, with many artists recording acoustic versions of their songs, you have a large selection to choose from including a wide range of styles and tempos to create the required music playlist. I never tire of watching the reaction of guests as they enjoy a drink and a chat only to be distracted by the version of the song playing.
It often makes for an enjoyable conversation starter, and I am constantly complemented on the song selections, which also allows me to build a rapport with the guests ahead of the main party.
