For the first time this year, we’ve decided not to print the survey (as almost everyone completed it online last year), but we have switched to a new online system that is much slicker. You can find the survey form here: It should only take around 5 minutes to complete and is your opportunity to let us know about yourself as a DJ and the services that you provide to your clients, as well as what you think about Pro Mobile and what you would like to see from us in the future.
We really do pay a lot of attention to the results of the survey and we’d be very grateful if you took the time to complete it. As a little thank you, everyone who submits the survey will be entered into a free prize draw, turn over the page to find out more. That’s it for me for this issue, and for 2019. Look out for the next edition of Pro Mobile in January 2020, but until then – and throughout the Christmas party season – keep ‘em dancing!
I’m sure I say this every year, but wow, 2019 has flown! It really doesn’t seem like a year since I was working on the first edition of Pro Mobile for 2019 and here I am welcoming you to the last! I’d like to start this issue’s introduction by thanking everyone who visited the Pro Mobile stand at the BPM DJ Show in Solihull back in October. And I’d also like to thank our stand team – Carl Hirst and Steve Honeyball – for all their hard work over the weekend.
The atmosphere at the show was fantastic across both days and, as always, it was a pleasure to meet so many readers of the magazine face-to-face. It was also a pleasure to contribute to the Learning Zone at the event, hosting a panel in the NADJ room on Saturday and sitting on one in the SEDA room on Sunday. I’d like to thank NADJ and SEDA for inviting me to take part, as well as Mark van den Berg, Mike Lewis, Pat Mulligan and Ryan Smith for agreeing to sit on my panel and sharing such great advice.
Finally, I’d also like to thank everyone who attended either of the sessions, especially those who asked questions and entered into the debates. There’s a photo report from BPM starting on page 30 of this edition of Pro Mobile. On the Monday following BPM, we hosted a new event called Pro Mobile Focus at The Village hotel in Solihull (our usual Pro Mobile Conference venue). Offering a day of ideas and inspiration for professionally-minded mobile DJs to tag on to their BPM weekend, this proved to be a thoroughly enjoyable event that everyone who attended agreed was a resounding success.
You can find out more from the article on the day starting on page 62 of this magazine, so I won’t say anymore here. However, I will say that our next Pro Mobile learning event, our annual Conference, is very close to selling out. We have less than 10 places left, so if you are considering coming along now is the time to jump off the fence and book. You really won’t be disappointed, as it is always a fantastic two days which leaves delegates inspired and equipped to move their DJ businesses forward.
As another year is coming to an end, it’s time for our annual Reader Survey. The survey is intended to help the magazine editorial team better understand our readership so that we can ensure Pro Mobile’s content remains interesting, relevant and informative. It also allows us to produce national statistics on mobile DJs that help our advertisers to better serve the readership.
Since almost everyone completed last year's Reader Survey online, we've decided not to produce a printed version this year. However, we have overhauled the online version to make it extremely easy to use. Please take the time to fill it in; it should only take between 5 and 10 minutes to complete. We have tried to make it as straight-forward as possible, while covering all of the areas that we feel are relevant.
The survey is for everyone; if you’re reading this magazine we’d like to hear your views, it doesn’t matter if you’ve been a subscriber since the beginning or if this is the first copy you’ve seen. Your opinion does matter, and your responses will be taken into serious consideration. As an added incentive, everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a free prize draw to win an Odyssey Flight Zone® series controller flightcase. Ideal for DJ playback controllers such as Pioneer DJ's DDJ-SX/SX2/SX3, it features Odyssey's patented Glide Style™ laptop platform as well as a 1U 19" rack mount space below the controller area, ideal for gear such as a wireless mic receiver.
